Level: Intermediate Description of Workshop Levels
Technique: 3D Design,Basics,Design,Metal Clay,Mixed Materials,Technique Based

Fundamentals, skills, and techniques covered:
• Prepare clays for carving by rolling and layering
  • Learn carving and whittling techniques
  • Basic base metal clay firing techniques
 

Create a mixture of two separate base metal clays, then use carving tools to remove the top layer to expose what's underneath. Learn what base metal clays can fire together and appropriate firing schedules, while creating one-of-a-kind designs. You WILL complete this project in class.

Prerequisites/Skills Needed: Basic knowledge of working with metal clays

Materials you are required to bring:
Writing materials, any personal metal clay tools (optional)

Level: Intermediate Description of Workshop Levels
Technique: Metal Clay,Texturing

Fundamentals, skills, and techniques covered:
• Compare and contrast 5 types of bronze clays
  • Review firing schedules and shrinkage
  • Discuss alternative methods of firing

Some of the newest and still changing metal clays on the market today are the bronzes. Come experiment with five different types and create small charms suitable for earrings, pendants, or charm bracelets, all based on leaves, shells, and other natural forms. You WILL complete this project in class.

Prerequisites/Skills Needed: A basic knowledge of metal clays (no specific brand required) will assist students in this class.

Materials you are required to bring:
Writing materials, personal metal clay tools if available.

Fundamentals, skills, and techniques covered:
• How to use photopolymet plates to create personal texture
  • Learn which fonts work best for photopolymers plates
  • Use silver metal clay to create a small charm with one of your textures



Learn the ins and outs of creating your own designs, including popular words and phrases, in this short class for metal clay and polymer clay users. Students will have the opportunity to create a simple pair of silver earrings with one of their own designs. You WILL complete this project in class.


Prerequisites/Skills Needed: None

Materials you are required to bring:
Scissors, scotch tape, writing materials, metal clays tools (optional)
