  • Metal clay manipulation
  • Faux granulation

This popular class fills quickly! So much fun. Bring a funky piece of bark and whittle it down to create the model for your piece. You will make a mold you can use again to transfer your design to silver. Granulation the metal clay way is clean, professional and stress free. This time we will gypsy set a couple tiny faceted stones for a little sparkle. (not pictured) If you bring a 20 or 22 inch sterling chain, a patina can be added. The chain in the photo is a popcorn chain. Every piece looks different and exciting. One of my favorite classes to teach. You WILL complete this project in class.

Prerequisites/Skills Needed: Good hand eye coordination, ability to work very small

Materials you are required to bring: Bring a funky piece of bark about 3 inches by 1 inch, or use one of mine, task Lamp, magnifiers, fine long bent nose pliers, emery board, playing cards or thickness slats, clay roller, fine paint brush, small clay shaper, fine tweezers

Technique: Assembly, Basics, Design, Dremel, Drilling, Finishing, Metal Clay, Metalsmithing, Patina, Stone Setting - Faceted, Texturing, Torchwork, Wire Work

Fundamentals, skills, and techniques covered:
• Metal clay manipulation
  • Sizing and shrinkage calculation
  • Faux granulation

A very popular class! Wonderful way to learn a little or a little more about PMC. I prefer you concentrate on building only one superb ring rather than trying to crank out crummy ones. We will add granulation the sneaky metal clay way and this time we will gypsy set a few tiny stones for just a hint of sparkle. These funky rings are so much fun to make and allow for a wonderful day of stress free creation along with great shopping time. You WILL complete this project in class.

Prerequisites/Skills Needed: Good hand eye coordination, ability to work small

Materials you are required to bring: STEPPED Ring Mandrel on a stand is the most important item for this class. Borrow from a friend if you need to. Sharing these or working with a different tool will add stress to your experience. Task lamp, magnifiers, playing cards or open ended thickness slats ( the enclosed ones are too small for this use, fine long bent nose pliers for tiny granulation work, metal clay roller, fine needle tool, emery board
