Learning Objectives






  • Implement strategies and communication skills to better manage ‘the difficult’  patient expectations/encounter
  • Surgeons treating and/or referring lymphedema patients: identify patients who qualify for surgical treatments; for others propose the different types of treatments available: to increase patient outcome and long-term results
  • Adopt new techniques in the treatment of patients with “phantom pain”
  • Assess the indications, possible improved outcomes in some patients and potential adverse issues with abdominal wall reconstruction technique
  • Implement new (and old) proven techniques to improve wound healing and better manage scar/keloid with new medical research
  • Categorize different reconstructive techniques and determine when and how to implement them in specific patients with differing oncologic managements of their disease to increase patient outcome
