City Teams Financial Support

Cities United will provided a $1,500 stipend to each city that sends a team to the convening to help offset travel expenses. This stipend is provided in a check to the City. All materials must be received by Cities United by September 30, 2017. Checks will be mailed after the convening and approximately 30 days after all materials are received.


A city team typically consists of several of the following:

  • Mayor
     
  • Cities United city lead - person leading city efforts around black men and boys and/or violence prevention as identified by the mayor
     
  • Young leader – person between the ages of 14 and 24 who has been impacted by violence and is currently working and/or participating in local efforts
     
  • Representative from the field of public safety (law enforcement, criminal justice professions or judge)
     
  • Representative(s) from the community – person(s) who work in faith-based organizations, civic organizations, family and/or youth serving organizations or the business community
     
  • Representative from the philanthropic community

To qualify for the stipend, each city will need to provide the following by September 30, 2017:

  1. completed invoice (see template below),
     
  2. a w9 from the City,
     
  3. a list of convening attendees (name, title, email), and
     
  4. a letter of commitment from the Mayor (see template below)
