Many public benefits programs—such as cash welfare, food assistance and energy assistance—limit eligibility to those with few or no savings or assets. This session will explore the barriers that individuals receiving public assistance face when trying to build assets, and present programmatic and policy solutions at the state and federal levels to remove these barriers.

  • Mariana Chilton, Drexel Center for Hunger-Free Communities
