2014 Assets Learning Conference

Integrating Asset Building into Head Start Programs

Thursdsay, September 18th, 2014
10:15-11:30 AM

Room: Salon 15

In 2013, Head Start programs nationwide served close to a million low-income children and pregnant women, and their families. Because these families must have incomes at or below the federal poverty level to be eligible, asset-building strategies, particularly those focused on maximizing income and paying down debt, are critical to improve their financial security. This session will describe how asset building fits into the Office of Head Start’s strategic framework to improve child outcomes, promising strategies being implemented in Head Start programs, and the role of asset-building service providers and intermediaries in supporting these efforts.
