2014 Assets Learning Conference

Advancing Safe and Effective Financial Products

Friday, September 19th, 2014
10:15-11:45 AM

Room: Chinatown

Five years into the economic recovery, many people continue to exist in a state of persistent financial insecurity, making it difficult to look beyond immediate needs and plan for a more secure future. While financial education, protection from predatory practices and access to alternatives are critical, families need more to move from financial insecurity to economic opportunity. They also need access to safe and affordable financial products. In this session, attendees will learn how leading institutions, asset-building funders and regulators are providing new ways to promote these safe products, with a financial inclusion roadmap developed by a collaboration of Twin Cities stakeholders and the Northwest Area Foundation, and innovative products such as Bank of America's SafeBalance Banking designed to meet the needs of customers who want full-featured banking with greater predictability in the way they bank, and no surprise fees.

  • Kevin Condon, Bank of America
  • Nikki Foster, Northwest Area Foundation
  • Jonathan Miller, FDIC
  • Ron Grzywinski, CFED Board Member (Moderator)
