  • Describe how the health, safety, and financial impact of Occupational Health Standards are assessed over time
  • Identify the core content and requirements contained in multiple Occupational Health Standards in California
  • Apply knowledge about recent occupational health standards to improve compliance in the workplace
  • Apply knowledge of the policy making process to future occupational health challenges

At the completion of this activity, the learner will be able to:
  • Define, diagnose, and treat acute concussion, persistent concussive symptoms, and post-concussive syndrome
  • Review the known health effects of wildfire smoke exposure, health effects currently under study, and resources for OEM clinicians who treat patients with smoke exposure
  • Describe Cal OSHA’s newest regulations, recently identified health hazards and the workplaces affected by them, and be able to develop specific Medical Surveillance recommendations for those regulations
  • Identify emerging health hazards for cannabis workers, and be able to provide appropriate Medical Surveillance and/or treatment for cannabis workers
  • Discuss new remote monitoring technologies that apply to OEM, and how to access and apply these new technologies as appropriate
  • Identify signs and symptoms necessitating urgent orthopedic referral, and the most appropriate imaging study for the shoulder injury
  • Utilize recommendations to facilitate quality improvement in their own practicies, champion the value of OEM to their organizations, and to apply ACOEM’s specific recommendations in assessing patient satisfaction from the ACOEM position statement
  • Discuss the timeline and type of documentation required for commercial drivers with insulin-dependent diabetes, and determine if the data submitted by the drivers is adequate for clearance
  • Review the structure of MTUS/ACOEM Guidelines, utilize practical tips on how to apply the MTUS treatment guidelines, and be able to utilize a different resource when your request is not included in ACOEM Guidelines
