2019 Pediatrics Symposium
 
Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of the symposium, the participants should be able to:

  1. Address anxiety and depression in teens during clinical visits.
  2. Diagnose potential or active marijuana/vaping addiction, and council patients on health effects and consequences of substance use.
  3. Describe how the Department of Public Health investigates infections and/or foodborne illnesses and what is the role for the Pediatrician in clinical practice.
  4. Identify signs of physician distress/burnout and utilize available resources for support.
  5. Counsel families regarding healthy discipline and sleep practices.
  6. Utilize the latest guidelines for refractory epilepsy including neuromodulation and know when additional modalities for treatment are indicated.
Accreditation

Physicians - The Southern California Permanente Medical Group is accredited by the Institute for Medical Quality/California Medical Association (IMQ/CMA) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The Southern California Permanente Medical Group designates this live activity for a maximum of 7.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.™ Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Nurses and Physician Assistants – Attendees may report up to 7.5 hours toward continuing education requirements for license renewal. ‘CME’ can be written in lieu of the provider number on all licensure renewal applications.
 
ABP Maintenance of Certification
Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 7.5 MOC points in the American Board of Pediatric's (ABP) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. Participants will earn MOC points equivalent to the amount of CME credits claimed for the activity. It is the CME activity provider's responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABP MOC Credit. 

Participation information will be shared with ABP through PARS.
