The ACS ER Team has finalised a stimulating, thought provoking and topical programme and secured the services of some of the leading authorities in their field who will present on a range of topics relevant for frontline and senior staff who have responsibility for the supervision or management of employees, the employment relationship and WHS.

Consultation regarding major workplace change (restructure, outsourcing, redundancy etc.) has been a hot topic in our sector overthe last few months and our opening presentation by Kyle Scott,Senior Partner at Australian Business Lawyers & Advisors, explores the legal obligations of employers and consultation practicalities in theworkplace. Rob Sheehy, Area Manager - Aged Care at the HSU, willfollow this with insight into consultation from a union and employee perspective.

Two ACS members, Anglican Care and Catholic Healthcare, will be presentingCatherine Mordaunt, from Anglican Care will speak to us about successful retention and recruitment strategies and their impact on the workplace and workforce.  Kathy Pahl from Catholic Healthcare will show us from experience how early intervention in workplace injuries can save your organisation considerable expense and exposure from a workers compensation perspective.  Suzana Strbac from Gow-Gates will provide us with an update on workers compensation, specifically, an update on the new State Insurance Regulatory Authority (SIRA) guidelines for claiming workers compensation.

Caryn Walsh, founder and Director of Pure Magic International Business Solutions, has been working with the aged and disability sectors and is well known for her ability to work with providers to help them develop leaders and staff at all levels, ensuring they focus on reaching and sustaining high performance.  Caryn will provide us with her insight into issues facing our sector now and into the future and how to succeed in times of change.

Holman Webb Lawyers will conclude the day with a presentation on privacy and other legal rights and obligations in relation to the use of Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) surveillance, video and photography in both community and residential aged care settings.
