Professional Trustee Summit

Effective trusteeship in challenging times

Engaged Investor’s Professional Trustee Summit brought key decision-makers at UK schemes together to debate the big issues of the day.

After a year in which BHS and Tata Steel raised the profile of pensions, DB deficits have been high and volatile, and the political environment has proved difficult to predict, there was plenty of ground to cover.

Professional trustees and trustee chairs had the chance to explore topics including the Pensions Regulator’s 21st century trusteeship project, the impact of Brexit, handling longevity risk, and cost transparency.

They heard from TPR’s Andrew Warwick-Thompson, ex-pensions minister Steve Webb, London Business School’s David Pitt-Watson and RPMI’s Vicky Bell – who shared lessons from her scheme’s ground-breaking Investment Transformation Project.

The event also featured the launch of Engaged Investor’s latest research report, on pension scheme buyouts.

Thanks go to the APPT for partnering with us on this event, to our sponsors and speakers, to Mayer Brown for hosting us, and to all of you who contributed to the debates on the day.

I hope to see you again next year.
