Entry rules for CTA Intelligence European Performance Awards 2016

1. Inclusion:

  • Only CTAs with their management/advisory company or team based in the UK or Europe will be eligible for the CTA Intelligence European Performance Awards 2016.
  • The entry form link will be sent to all managers and contacts on the CTA Intelligence database. Other interested managers can access the online entry form via this website.
  • CTAs interested in entering the awards must submit all information via the official CTA Intelligence European Performance Awards 2016 online entry form.
  • The awards will be publicised internationally in the general and managed futures media. All awards finalists will be honoured—and the winners announced at a dinner on Wednesday, 30 November 2016 at Plaisterers' Hall, London. Please mark this date on your calendar.

The deadline for inclusion is Friday 30 September 2016.

2. Criteria:

The awards seek submissions in the following categories:


CTA long-term performance over $500m (5 years)
CTA long-term performance under $500m (5 years)
Diversified CTA over $500m
Diversified CTA under $500m
Emerging CTA (12-36 months)
Investable CTA index
Managed futures Ucits fund
Multi-manager fund
Newcomer CTA (12 months)
Risk-adjusted return over $500m (3 years)
Risk-adjusted return under $500m (3 years)
Short term trader
Specialised CTA
Trend-follower over $500m
Trend-follower under $500m
Systematic macro
Innovative fee product

Any CTA satisfying the following criteria will be eligible for the CTA Intelligence European Performance Awards 2016:

Base of operations:

  • CTAs submitting in all categories must have their management/advisory company or team based in the UK or Europe and submit their USD share class.

Strategy/Program:

  • CTAs submitting for any of the categories with the exception of emerging CTA and newcomer CTA categories must trade/invest primarily in futures, forwards, or options over the last three years in one or more of the strategies/programs described by the categories above.
  • CTAs submitting for the emerging CTA category must trade/invest primarily in futures, forwards, or options over the last 12-35 months.
  • CTAs submitting for the newcomer category must trade/invest primarily in futures, forwards, or options over the last 6-12 months.

Assets Under Management:

  • CTAs submitting for any of the categories (apart from the emerging and newcomer categories) must have a minimum of 10 million (USD) in assets under management ending 30 June 2016.
  • CTAs submitting for the emerging category must have a minimum of 10 million (USD) in assets under management ending 30 June 2016.
  • CTAs submitting for the newcomer category must have a minimum of 1 million (USD) in assets under management ending 30 June 2016.

Please submit the USD share class for the awards.

Track Record:

  • CTAs submitting for any of the categories except categories best CTA long term performance - 5 yearsemerging CTA and newcomer CTA must have a track record of 3 years ending with their June 2016 performance figures.
  • CTAs submitting for the long term performance – 5 years categories must have a track record of 5 years ending with their June 2016 performance figures.
  • CTAs submitting for the emerging category must have a track record of 12 to 35 months of performance data ending with their June 2016 performance.
  • CTAs submitting for the newcomer category must have a track record of 6 - 12 months of performance data ending with their June 2016 performance.

Nominated categories:

Please note that entries are not accepted for those categories marked ‘Nominated’. The shortlist for these categories will be compiled by a panel of industry experts.

3. Judging Decisions:

The judging panel will comprise representatives from CTA Intelligence, leading institutional, private investors and industry experts.

Each member of the judging panel will have an equal vote in choosing the winners in each category. Decisions should be unanimous, but a majority will suffice.

Judging decisions will be based on performance, qualitative information and structural criteria.

A shortlist of finalists for each category will be announced in October with the winners revealed on 30 November 2016 at Plaisterers Hall, London.
