IBP FORESIGHT & ENTERPRISE DAY

Join us for a journey into the future and meet the talent that will make it happen

Draft Programme available HERE

This year conference will bring you:

Foresight: “Designing the future: unlocking the creative potential of advanced materials, manufacturing and design tools”.

The focus will be on how the potential to reimagine the processes that drive product design and manufacturing has never been greater, from additive manufacturing and the internet of things, to efficient circular economies where material resources can be infinitely recycled. While recent debate has focused on the role of automation, data and smart products – and their potential impact on labour – the creative potential of new materials and new manufacturing techniques is often ignored. And yet breakthrough discoveries in materials research and synthetic biology are expanding our capabilities to configure the physical properties, form and sustainability of products. Machine intelligence, smart factories and big data may change the value of human capital in traditional roles, but will also power future platforms for inventiveness and innovation. And new, science-based approaches to design and process engineering stand poised to capitalize on these developments, shaping future adoption and impact.

Enterprise: “Enterprising students: the next generation of innovators and entrepreneurs”

We will bring our guests back to the present with a highly focussed session on how some visions of the future are already happening: come and meet a selection of the very best examples from our growing pool of entrepreneurial talent. A panel discussion exploring innovation and entrepreneurship at Imperial and why is it relevant for business today and in the future will then follow, bringing together views from our student, alumni and corporate community to discuss how we can work together to support an enterprising culture that encourages the translation of ideas into practice. An IBP prize will be awarded to the most promising student start up, selected by IBP member companies.

The event is for IBP members only.

A limited number of guest tickets are available. Please contact IBP Programme Manager Julia Zanghieri for further details
