Wellington (Te Whanga-nui-a-Tara) is the capital city of New Zealand (Aotearoa). Located at the south-western tip of the North Island (Te Ika-a-Maui) it covers 813,005 hectares of land and has a maritime area of 786,000 hectares and 497 kilometres of coastline.
