Dr. Keith Still - Professor of Crowd Science at Manchester Metropolitan Univ.



The three-day workshop is designed for people who plan and manage the movement of people at large-scale spectator events. With over 45 years of combined experience, instructors include world-renowned expert Dr. Keith Still. They will examine the growing rate of crowd-related accidents and incidents around the world. Using tools, methods, and worked examples, participants will be provided with an understanding of crowd safety and how crowd accidents and incidents can occur. Participants will look at the underlying causes and implementing techniques for crowd risk analysis and crowd safety and security engineering that can help minimize and even eliminate occurrences altogether.


Learn How To:

• Anticipate and plan for crowd movement at large-scale spectator events

• Apply crowd risk analysis techniques for planning and managing crowds

• Identify crowd risks during planning and operations

• Document and present crowd safety and risk analysis


TARGET AUDIENCE: sport facility managers, sport safety and security personnel, law enforcement agencies, emergency managers, medical services, architects, private security and risk managers


Tuition Fee: $975.00 per attendee. Limited spaces (36).



Trainee Information: There is no pre-course work for this training. Encourage attendees to bring their event case study (maps, plans, and diagrams) for use during the workshop. Handouts and copies of PPTs will be provided via a drop box link. Laptops/tablets are allowed.

Certified Sport Security Professional: Content in this workshop is relative to the crowd management competencies for the Certified Sport Security Professional.

Certificate of Completion: Attendees will receive a certificate of completion from the National Center for Spectator Sports Safety and Security, Manchester Metropolitan University and International Institute of Risk and Safety Management.
