CHDA Exam Preparation Workshop

The Certified Healthcare Data Analyst (CHDA®) is a competency-based (knowledge and experience) credential that validates the skills and knowledge of analyst and healthcare professionals and demonstrates mastery of data management and analytics skills to support business growth and quality health care.

Workshop Description:

Healthcare continues to become more data-driven, making Health Data Analysts more valuable than ever. Individuals who earn the CHDA designation will achieve recognition of their expertise in health data analysis and validation of their mastery of this domain. This workshop is an extensive 2 day face to face event designed to prepare the healthcare professional to sit for the CHDA Examination. All domains covered in the CHDA exam are reviewed, including Data Management, Data Analytics, and Data Reporting.

All participants will receive workshop handouts and a copy of A Practical Approach to Analyzing Healthcare Data book, published by AHIMA.

Workshop Objectives:

Be better prepared to sit for the CHDA certification exam

Be able to apply knowledge of how to interpret analytical findings for clinical, financial, and operational recommendations. Be able to validate results through qualitative and quantitative analysis. Understand approaches to and expertise needed to generate routine and ad-hoc reports using internal and external data sources. Be able to describe approaches to the development and maintenance of data architecture and data structures to support business needs.

Who Should Take the Exam:

Professionals with or desiring the knowledge to acquire, manage, analyze, interpret, and transform data into accurate, consistent, and timely information, while balancing the "big picture" strategic vision with day-to-day details. CHDA-credentialed professionals exhibit broad organizational knowledge and the ability to communicate with individuals and groups at multiple levels, both internal and external.

Exam Eligibility:

Candidates must meet one of the following eligibility requirements to sit for the CHDA examination:

• Healthcare information management credential (RHIT®) and minimum of three (3) years of healthcare data experience

• Baccalaureate degree and a minimum of three (3) years of healthcare data experience

• Healthcare information management credential (RHIA®)

• Master’s in Heath Information Management (HIM) or Health Informatics from an accredited school

• Master's or higher degree and one (1) year of healthcare data experience

Exam Format and Content Outline:

Number of Questions on Exam:

150 multiple-choice (130 scored/20 pretest)

Exam Time: 3.5 hours – no breaks

Domain 1 – Data Management (30-34%)

Domain 2 – Data Analytics (35-39%)

Domain 3 – Data Reporting (29-33%)
