2016 PLA SA/NT and Recreation SA State Conference

Recreation SA and Parks and Leisure Australia SA/NT invite you to attend the 2016 South Australian State Conference to be held at Next Gen Memorial Drive on Monday 11 April 2016.

The Future of Recreation, Sport and Leisure - A Sustainable Business will explore practical and innovative ideas that will provide our delegates with energy and inspiration to improve the Parks, Leisure, Recreation and Aquatics sectors.

We are pleased to announce Andrew Gaze, Australia's most decorated Olympic basketballer, will be one of the keynote speakers at the State Conference, delivering an inspiring talk about his Olympic experience and how it has shaped the way he thinks and tackles challenges.

Other highlights include learning how the Big Bash League has emerged as Australia's fastest growing sporting phenomenon this summer - join Adelaide Strikers General Manager Bronwyn Klei as she shares her most effective engagement strategies used to attract nearly 220,000 fans through the gates at Adelaide Oval this season and average 1 million television viewers nationwide and also the strategies that have led to the team securing significant sponsorship opportunities.

Former Crows star Brent Reilly will be our special guest at the Recreation SA Awards breakfast, discussing his football career, his road to recovery, the influence of his different AFL coaches on his playing career and life after football.

Dr Emma Sherry, Senior Lecturer within the LaTrobe University Centre for Sport and Social Impact, will discuss 'Social Inclusion as a Strategic Imperative'.

In recognition of modern commercial realities that affect the sector, the 2016 conference will have a strong business emphasis with streams focussing on:

  • Activating Facilities and Spaces
  • Funding and Partnerships
  • Sustainable Asset Management

What better place to get together to think, plan and share ideas than Next Gen Memorial Drive. Conveniently located in North Adelaide just minutes from the CBD, Next Gen forms part of a precinct in the heart of the Adelaide Parklands that provides key sport, recreation and leisure opportunities to the people of SA.

The 2016 State Conference will be the 4th presented in a partnership between Parks and Leisure Australia SA/NT and Recreation SA to capture the whole of the recreation industry. This single day State Conference is not to be missed - a vital opportunity for professionals to increase industry knowledge and local networks, and learn from colleagues in the sector. We look forward to seeing you in April.
