Vogue Knitting LIVE Recap!

Seattle - March 2014

A little rain couldn’t put a damper on all the fun we had at Vogue Knitting LIVE Seattle this year! Knitters flocked to the Meydenbauer Center for three days of classes, shopping, and more. Those in classes got to learn from the best in the business—everything from designing their own garments to entrelac to fixing mistakes to knitting adorable toys.

The Marketplace was full to bursting with temptation for knitters and crocheters. Gorgeous yarn? Check. Needles to fill out your catalog of sizes? Got that. Project bags, patterns, notions, and more? Of course! But there was more to the Marketplace than shopping. Fashion shows featuring the newest designs in the hottest yarns walked the runway; a panel of men in our industry got everyone buzzing; attendees learned variegated yarn’s “magic number” from Laura Bryant of Prism; and Rebecca Prip showed off the wonders of yak fiber. All weekend long people went to learn about My Mountain from Schachenmayr, and folks got to Sample South Africa at their booth, where mohair yarn was featured. Brad Swonetz, the photographer for Stitch Mountain and a snowboarder and crocheter, signed copies of the book—every VIP received one as part of their package. New stitchers were made at the Yarnspirations Lounge, hosted by Vickie Howell, who taught knitting and crochet for free to anyone who stopped by—plus had demonstrations of arm knitting, the latest craze!

Everyone went home a winner, too! Attendees spun the wheel of fortune for prizes all weekend long, and at the end of the weekend My Mountain and Rowan cut down the skeins decorating the lobby for people to catch below.

What a blast it was. Thanks to all of our sponsors, teachers, vendors, volunteers, and staff for all they did to make this event such a success. We’re already looking forward to our next show, in Chicago October 24–26! See you there!
