Pre-Conference Workshop

Preparing Patients for Interferon-Free Direct-Acting Antiviral Therapy in the Drug and Alcohol Treatment Setting

Tuesday 6 September 9am - 12.30pm, Radisson Blu Scandinavia Hotel

Cost: FREE

This workshop will focus on: HCV epidemiology and prevention, HCV natural history and effects of drugs on the liver, HCV testing and screening, assessing liver disease severity and non-invasive tools for liver disease assessment, antiviral treatment regimens and monitoring, treatment adherence and support, and post-treatment follow-up and reinfection monitoring.
The workshop will include case studies and experiences of interferon-free therapy from a community perspective.

Learning Outcomes

Understand:
  1. Key virological assessments for hepatitis C infection
  2. HCV liver disease staging and pre-treatment assessments
  3. IFN-free DAA therapeutic development and evidence among PWID
  4. HCV treatment adherence and support
  5. Post-treatment follow-up: liver disease and reinfection monitoring  

Community Networking Forum

Cost: Free

This forum, aims to showcase peer based groups and activities in Norway and provide an opportunity for attendees to network, exchange ideas, and develop advocacy and supportive communication strategies for the INSHU conference.

The aim of this meeting is to provide community member and advocates an opportunity to:
  • Network and develop supportive professional relationships;
  • Gain an understanding of the global hepatitis C (HCV) treatment landscape
  • Learn from each other`s perspectives and highlight the value of our peer to peer projects
  • Discuss challenges and strategies for people working in community settings in linking people who use drugs to testing and treatment
  • Provide opportunities for community stakeholders to support and mentor each other and to increase benefit from the conference. Create engagement, and take action!
