Course Chair


Jon Porter-Has over 30 years of technical training experience designing, building, and delivering technical training in several different media formats for stand-up, group-lock step, and self-paced programs with an emphasis on adult learning. He has served as a senior instructor/process specialist for Fosber America for the last fifteen years. His responsibilities include safety, training for machine installations, documentation and conducting both field and factory schools on corrugator equipment and process. Process examples include corrugator 101, bonding, warp TS, operator quality tests, and process controls. Jon is a TAPPI member, serves on the standards committee, and is one of the lead instructors in TAPPI’s Linerboard and Box Manufacture and Advanced Bonding courses.

Course Faculty

 Tim Church –began his corrugated career in 1980 at an Olinkraft box plant (now Georgia Pacific) in Owosso, Michigan. His work experience in that plant spanned 33 years where he worked on flexos, diecutters, tapers, stitchers, a curtain coater, then worked his way up the corrugator and learned to schedule before becoming a member of the management team. He’s held supervisory positions over shipping, converting, and the corrugator as well as being plant scheduler and heading up the Food Safety program. He served as the Corrugator/Cascader Superintendent and championed the Mobile Equipment & Pedestrian Safety Initiatives. Tim joined Harper Love in April of 2014 and is a Service Technician for the North Central Region. He enjoys serving his customer’s needs and helping them improve their operations in big and small ways.

Dan Dyson- Daniel Dyson is the Vice President of Production for Avista Solutions International, Inc., a software company serving the Corrugated Packaging Industry and is also serving on the Board of Directors for Avista. He has an extensive background in business, business development, and is particularly strong in production planning and management. He has authored white papers on the subject of scheduling, production and planning, and roll stock analysis. He worked for MacMillan Bathhurst in the Guelph, Ontario, Canada facility for 21 years.

He has been instrumental in developing the Solutions Trim Scheduling system now used in over 70 facilities in 7 countries over the entire Western Hemisphere. This is in addition to contributing to the design of the Planning Board for production planning in a full box plant or converting operation.

Dan brings his 39 years of practical hands-on experience in Production Planning and Management in the Corrugated Packaging Industry to the forefront when he leads in training sessions or delivers technical presentations on the subject.  

Dave Muchorski, Director of Marketing,Testing Machines Inc. has worked for 33 years in the field of materials testing instrumentation, primarily in the areas of Sales, Technical Support and Marketing. Developing strong personal relationships and understanding customer needs contribute to my success and to the success of the companies I have served. Muchorski is an active member on several technical testing committees for paper and packaging industries. He has served as committee chairman for ASTM D-6 Paper, Chairman of TAPPI Process and Product Quality Division Council, member of Quality and Standards Management Committee of TAPPI, member of TAPPI Fun Run Committee, member TAPPI Physical Properties Committee, member of TAPPI FISCOTEC Committee, Papermakers Conference Steering Committee 2011, member of ASTM D-10 Packaging and member of ASTM F-2 Flexible Barrier Materials. Muchorski also serve as a member and US delegate for ISO TC-6 paper division. 

Santosh Nayak-Santosh is the founder and current President of Qualitek Solutions headquartered in Tucker, GA. Qualitek’s primary business is providing control solutions to the corrugated industry starting with complete control systems for the corrugator through monitoring and systems for finishing machines. A secondary market is paper converting – coaters and label lines – where they market a steam re-moisturizer for curl remediation. Santosh is a Chemical Engineer by training having obtained his Bachelor’s Degree from IIT, Madras, India and his PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Florida. Santosh worked for Exxon for 4 years as a control systems engineer. He then worked for Measurex Corporation (now Honeywell) in Cupertino, CA for 13 years initially in engineering and then marketing. Measurex was a provider of control systems for paper machines. He then moved to Columbus, OH and worked for 3 years for a division of ABB, again in the area of paper machine controls. In 1994 he started Qualitek in Columbus, OH and then moved the company to Atlanta (Tucker) in 2001. In his spare time he plays at golf, is an amateur chef and is a connoisseur of craft beers.


Mike Riefsnyder – Currently Corrugator Product Manager for Next-Wire, a metal and synthetic material weaving company servicing the pulp, paper, nonwovens, building, and corrugated industries. He started in corrugated in 1971 and worked 19 years in manufacturing and changed to selling corrugator products in 1989. His main focus has been double backer belting and has headed Next-Wire’s development project of singlefacer belting for the last six years. He bring 44 years of manufacturing experience. 


Josh Ring is a Technical Trainer for Fosber America, Inc., a manufacturer of corrugated machinery. His corrugated career started in 2010 and his responsibilities focus on machine installation training, documentation, on-site training, safety, and process control troubleshooting. Josh’s experience has allowed him to experience many machine manufactures configurations and processes while working with plant personnel. Josh’s safety background also includes all internal required safety programs for his company and customer required safety programs for Fosber America, Inc.


Ronald Schuszler Is currently responsible for the business development of the Dücker Conveyor Systems products, Dücker Robotics and the Loadformer/Palletizing systems for the North American market, based in Chicago, IL. His corrugator career started in 1997 as a sales engineer, representing various high-end companies like Dücker Conveyor Systems. In 2000 Ronald started working directly for Dücker in the role of Sales-Manager and has designed automatic conveyor systems for corrugated factories all over the world. His current position is General Manager with Dücker-Ringwood Automation LLC.


Robert Seay is currently responsible for driving business growth and sales for the HP Inc.’s PageWide Web Press division in North America, specifically for the corrugated packaging segment. Robert has focused significant effort on the corrugated market over the last six plus years, studying and assessing how digital print solutions will transform this segment in the future. Robert brings insights on where the digital print market is for corrugate today, where it is projected to go in the near future, emerging concepts that will impact packaging, and key implications for converters and brands. Robert was previously responsible for digital packaging business development activities worldwide for HP Inc.’s PageWide Web Press division with prior roles across HP’s Graphic Solutions Business portfolio.



Peter Snyder - graduated cum laude in 1979 from Philadelphia University with a BS in textile chemistry. His early work experience included R&D and field technical service positions with National Starch and CCI. In addition to this he has been employed by Ringwood Company to represent their starch mixing systems in the USA and has held the positions of technical director and senior field service representative with Harper/Love Adhesive. Peter is currently employed by Harper/Love Adhesive as a national account salesman. 

Robin A. Sommers- Sommers is a senior project and process manager for Kadant Johnson Systems Division focused on process steam systems for the corrugator industry. He joined Kadant Johnson in the summer of 2014 after working at Donahue & Associates, supplier of Donahue Steam Systems, for 15 years. He previously was in R&D and product design engineering. Robin earned a BS degree in mechanical engineering from Purdue University.


Steve Woodard -Vice-President of Sales and Corporate Services for ARC International, is a 32 year veteran of the anilox roller and related industries. A 1976 graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill with a B.S. degree in Business Administration, he is in his 29th year of service with ARC International and is responsible for the development and management of national account programs with corrugated, wide web and narrow web corporations. Throughout his career, Woodard has been active with TAPPI and FTA with committee involvement and technical presentations. In 2012 he received his certification as a Six Sigma Green Belt from UNC-Charlotte.
