Jock Beveridge MFIA

Jock Beveridge is a fundraising executive with 20 years of experience in a range of leading non-profit organisations and institutions. He has led award-winning fundraising campaigns and worked across the health, environment and education sectors in both the USA and Australia. His experience covers the full range of fundraising programs, including Face-to-Face, Direct Marketing, Major Gifts and Bequests. 

Jock currently leads a team of 15 senior fundraisers at Mater Foundation, Brisbane, with responsibility for $10m in annual revenue. Major Gifts is a key area of growth for Mater Foundation, with revenue doubling in four years. 

 
Dr Beth Breeze
Director, Centre for Philanthropy
Kent University UK

Before moving into academia Beth worked for a decade as a fundraiser and charity manager; this experience and her ongoing strong links with the UK charity sector make practitioner concerns central to her academic output. Beth's core research interests are major donors and major donor fundraisers: she is the lead UK contributor to the annual global ‘Million Dollar Donor Report’ and her first book, published in 2013 and co-authored with Theresa Lloyd, is Richer Lives: why rich people give. Forthcoming books include ‘The Routledge R

Beth is also involved in a range of research on topics including: how donors choose charities; fundraising for unpopular causes; philanthropic journeys; giving circles; and employee fundraising. Beth teaches undergraduate and masters courses on philanthropy, fundraising and volunteering, and in 2016 will launch the UK’s first MA in Philanthropic Studies, which will be available by distance learning.
 
Jeff Buchanan EMFIA CFRE

As a sole practitioner, team leader and senior consultant, Jeff has more than 15 years' experience in fundraising. 

A major capital campaign he directed 10 years ago was recognised by his peers in winning a series of state and national awards. For the last seven years, Jeff has been a Senior Consultant with AskRIGHT (formerly Global Philanthropic) working with a wide variety of clients on many successful fundraising campaigns, feasibility studies, strategic plans, organisational audits, fundraising programs and other many other activities, often where clients have required considerable expertise to navigate very challenging circumstances.

Jeff works with clients (staff, executives, boards) to build their capability to achieve better results across a range of fundraising activities, improve their donor/prospect engagement outcomes, and shift their thinking and behaviour to be more donor-centric.

Now regarded as one of Australia's leading non-profit consultants, Jeff is a mentor and adviser to many fundraisers, chief executive officers and board chairs.

Jeff is an internationally accredited fundraising professional (CFRE) and a long-time member of Fundraising Institute Australia, also serving for three years on the Queensland State Committee. He continues to present regularly at various conferences, forums and workshops for professionals in the non-profit sector.

Due to his reputation for best practice and significant experience, Jeff has accepted occasional roles as a Guest Lecturer at a number of higher education institutions.

 
Harriett Carter MFIA

Harriett has a passion for writing, is a self-confessed grammar nerd and is fascinated by the power of words to influence and inspire.

As Strategic Grants’ Queensland Manager and Grants Strategist, Harriett works closely with organisations large and small to develop effective grants strategies backed up by compelling cases for support and strong funding applications. Harriett has been instrumental in helping clients source literally hundreds of thousands of dollars in philanthropic funding.

Harriett also draws on past experience as a senior communications specialist in both the public and private sectors, including positions at the Residential Tenancies Authority, CITEC and NOUS Design. 

 
Ms Sandy Fuller EMFIA

Xponential Philanthropy

As a Senior Consultant with Xponential Philanthropy, Sandy has directed Capital Campaigns, Major Gift Programs; Strategic Fundraising Plans; and Campaign Readiness Assessments for clients across Australia.

Prior to joining Xponential, Sandy's fundraising experience included six years with 96five Family Radio in Brisbane as the Fundraising Manager; presiding over significant income growth over every year. Her skills have been developed around operational fundraising for a community organisation, building an expertise in annual fundraising events (radiothons, donor functions, and open days), major gift account management and bequests.

Sandy's personal style is characterised by a commitment to the task's success with a lively spirit. She brings a sense of fun to her projects as a bonus to the success. 

Prior to fundraising Sandy worked in sports’ events marketing and earlier in her career as a psychologist. Sandy’s mix of skills, experience and track record; assure her clients a dynamic and successful program.

 
Mr Craige Gravestein FFIA CFRE

Craige is a co-founder of leading Australasian big gifts consultancy, Xponential Philanthropy. Over the past twenty one years of professional fundraising Craige has assisted hundreds of Australian and New Zealand clients in capital campaigns and major gift programs. He has acquired an extensive knowledge of Australasia’s giving community, having been involved in big gift projects from half a million to $60m with clients in most regions. This breadth of experience has helped make Craige a sought after presenter at professional forums in Australia, New Zealand, USA and recently Africa. 

Craige's presentations are described as lively, insightful of industry trends and full of practical counsel and application. Sometimes provocative in his communications, Craige's passion is to challenge individuals to discover for themselves the fun of practicing personal altruism.
 
Matt Lang MFIA
Donor Relationships Manager
Mater Foundation

Fundraising and philanthropy are in Matt’s DNA as a third generation fundraiser from the Lang clan.

Having worked for some of Australia’s most trusted and enduring charities including The Salvation Army, Royal Children’s Hospital Foundation and currently Mater Foundation, Matt loves to serve the community.

Although Matt has experience up and down the fundraising pyramid, Major Gifts is his primary passion. In Matt’s humble opinion there is no greater feeling than cultivating, securing and stewarding a big gift that makes a big impact on a community need.  

In Matt’s current role, he heads up the Major Gifts program at Mater Foundation where he manages a multi-million dollar budget.   
 
Dr Wendy Scaife PhD FFIA FPRIA

Australian Centre for Philanthropic and Non-profit Studies (ACPNS) - QUT

Wendy has worked in, studied and taught philanthropy and fundraising for 25 years.  Her decade of work at QUT spans the cause/giver spectrum (see http://eprints.qut.edu.au/view/person/Scaife,_Wendy.html), including research on bequests, major gifts, foundation decision making, nonprofit boards and CEOs, performance measurement, and technology for giving and volunteering, as well as about giving to specific areas such as medical research, education, women and girls, Indigenous needs, and the arts.  

Wendy is currently Project Director of a cross-university team conducting the latest Giving Australia research of households, businesses, foundations, philanthropists and nonprofit organisations for which FIA is a sector partner.  Wendy’s Masters thesis explored corporate support of community causes and her PhD investigated improving the marketing and funding of Australian medical research.  

Wendy assists a range of government and sector committees including the US Association of Fundraising Professionals research committee.  She chairs a small community project and serves on a disaster grants committee. Prior to joining ACPNS Wendy was a State CEO/National Deputy CEO of a major health nonprofit.
