Shalini Selveraj
Homecare Doctor
Sheikh Khalifa Medical City

Having worked in busy District General Hospitals in the UK I have gained useful clinical and teaching experience in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. It was while working as a Gynaecologist in Abu Dhabi that I realised the impact of General Practice in my specialised field. This encouraged me to apply for a General Practice training post in the UK and I appreciate the concept of continuity of care, so essential in the area of Womens’ Health.

I work in the busy Home Care department of the SKMC as Consultant in Family Medicine. I thoroughly enjoy the varied and sometimes challenging consultations at the patients home.

As the only female physician in Home Care I deal with chronic disease management as well as gynaecological problems, mainly in elderly women.

I have trained and worked in busy, paperless, inner city practices in Manchester which has helped with improving my skills in general practice. I have worked as Clinical Lead for anticoagulation for Manchester and we have successfully set up a city-wide community anticoagulation service in 2011. I participate in regular annual appraisals with the Manchester PCT and have been Revalidated by the GMC till 12.06.2019
