Arvin supports CDW’s customers from a strategic standpoint, guiding them through the complexities of software licensing as well as specifically focusing on employing our Total Software Management Methodology for Microsoft and other Top Tier software partners. He has seven years of software experience at CDW, and nearly 15 years overall.

Matthew Karlyn

Matt Karlyn is a technology and licensing lawyer and a partner in the Technology Transactions & Outsourcing Practice with Foley & Lardner LLP. He regularly advises companies on all matters involving the commercialization of intellectual property, licensing initiatives, subscription-based economics, and the procurement and use of technology in business. Mr. Karlyn regularly structures licensing transactions and drafts and negotiates technology and patent licensing agreements; and drafts, negotiates and advises clients with respect to virtually every type of technology contract. Mr. Karlyn is a leading advisor on cloud-based transactions and a frequent speaker and writer on issues pertaining to cloud delivery models. Mr. Karlyn has extensive experience with transactions relating to outsourcing and is a leading advisor to companies, large and small, on sourcing initiatives. Mr. Karlyn is the co-author of A Guide to IT Contracting: Checklists, Tools and Techniques, with his partner, Mike Overly, published by CRC Press (December 2012). Mr. Karlyn received his M.B.A. from the University of Chicago in 2004.

Sandy Marguerite is a SAM Product Specialist for Snow Software within CDW. Sandy has worked for nearly 15 years at CDW and 12 of those years have revolved around licensing on some level, primarily within the Microsoft space. She brings that licensing knowledge into the SAM practice to provide customers with best practices for their software management.

Charles Pelton has run dozens of business and IT roundtables, moderated IT and other business-focused panels, and hosted executive conferences for CIO, Computerworld and other groups. A former editor-in-chief of events and research at InformationWeek magazine, Charles founded Modern Media Partners, a conferences production company that focused primarily on the content of live events. Charles has been an IT and business journalist for more than 20 years.

Michael R. Overly, Esq.

Michael Overly has a highly unusual background. In addition to being a lawyer, he also has two engineering degrees, used to be a software programmer, and holds almost every internationally recognized certification in technology auditing and information security. These certifications are the gold standard for knowledge and experience. He looks at technology from not only a legal perspective, but also audit and information security.

Mike has written dozens of articles and books on these subjects and is a frequent commentator in the national press (e.g., the New York Times, Chicago Tribune, Los Angeles Times, Wall Street Journal, ABCNEWS.com, CNN, and MSNBC). He has been asked to testify before Congress on privacy issues. His books on negotiating technology agreements, open source software, and big data have been recognized as “the” works on the subjects.

Mike has been engaged to conduct training for numerous US businesses, as well as those in Asia and Europe, on technology contracting and information security.
