Entry rules and criteria

When entering the 2015 Awards, please read through the following criteria for your chosen category (ies), which explain what the judging panel will be looking for when they judge the entries and select the winners. 

The awards will be publicized internationally in the general and hedge fund media. All awards finalists will be honoured — and the winners announced at a dinner on Monday 21 September at the Conrad Hong Kong Hotel. 

All winners will also be invited to be interviewed by HFMWeek. 

1. Inclusion:

• Only funds with their management/advisory company or team based in Asia or Australia will be eligible for the HFMWeek Asia Hedge Fund Performance Awards 2015.
• A link to the entry form will be sent to all managers and contacts on the HFMWeek database. Other interested managers can access the online entry form via this website.
• Funds interested in participating in the awards program must submit all information via the official HFMWeek Asia Hedge Fund Performance Awards 2015 Online Entry Form.  Please note that all funds must submit a completed entry form to be considered for the awards; incomplete information might lead to disqualification from the awards process.

2. Criteria:

The Awards 2015 seek submissions in 23 categories. A full list of categories is displayed on this website. 

Any fund satisfying the following criteria will be eligible for the HFMWeek Asia Hedge Fund Performance Awards 2015:

Base of operations:

• Funds submitting in all categories must have their management/advisory company or team based in Asia or Australia and submit their USD share class.
• Funds submitting for any of the categories with the exception of the newcomer category must trade/invest primarily—defined as at least 75% of portfolio over the last 2 years—in one or more of the 23 strategies described by the 2015 categories.
• Funds submitting for the newcomer category must trade/invest primarily—defined as at least 75% of portfolio over the last 12-23 months—in one of the 23 strategies as described by the categories above.

Assets Under Management:

• Funds submitting for all categories (apart from newcomer and fund of hedge fund categories) must have a minimum of 20 million (USD) in assets under management ending 30 April 2015.
• Funds submitting for newcomer category must have a minimum of 10 million (USD) in assets under management ending 30 April 2015.
• Funds submitting for funds of hedge funds categories must have a minimum of 25 million (USD) in assets under management ending 30 April 2015.

Please submit the USD share class for the awards.

Track Record:

• Funds submitting for any of the categories except newcomer category must have a track record of 2 years ending with their April 2015 performance figures. 
• Funds submitting for newcomer category must have a track record of at least 12 months and less than 24 – that is 12 - 23 months of performance data ending with their April 2015 performance figures. 
• Funds submitting for long term performance – 5 years categories must have a track record of 5 years of performance data ending with their April 2015 performance figures. 
Nominated categories:

Please note that entries are not accepted for those categories marked ‘Nominated’. The shortlist for these categories will be compiled by a panel of industry experts.

3. Judging Decisions:

The judging panel will comprise representatives from HFMWeek, leading institutional and private investors and industry experts.

Each member of the judging panel will have an equal vote in choosing the winners in each category. Decisions should be unanimous, but a majority will suffice. 

Judging decisions will be based on performance, qualitative information and structural criteria.

Judging process
    
All judges will comply with a confidentiality agreement to ensure no information is disclosed or discussed outside of the judging process. 

A shortlist of finalists for each category will be announced in August with the winners revealed on 21 September at The Conrad Hong Kong.  Please mark this important date on your calendar.
