JUDGING CRITERIA

Please read the following criteria carefully as it will help you understand what the judges are looking for and what you need to include in your entry.

Please note: Only performance, activity and initiatives between 4 July 2014 and 3 July 2015 will be taken into consideration by the judges.


INSURER CATEGORIES

Commercial lines insurer
The judges will award the insurer who has demonstrated particular expertise within those lines. Careful underwriting, solid results and a capable team will set the winner apart from the rest.
Key criteria include:
  • Knowledge and expertise of team
  • High quality product offerings
  • Business strategy

Corporate & specialty lines
While overall company performance will be considered, these awards go to the teams which have shown outstanding achievements within a specialty line. A skilled team, leading market presence and financial results will be taken into account.
Key criteria include:
  • Specialised knowledge
  • Market share
  • Brand

Employee benefits provider
The judges will award the insurer who really stands out from the rest. The winner will have displayed effective marketing strategies, leading market positions and good relationships with a wide network of employee benefits solutions.
Key criteria include:

  • Growth/market share
  • Quality of product offering
  • Expertise of team
  • Brand

Financial lines insurer
Insurer-overall

These coveted categories recognise the insurer who has set the standard for others to follow over the past year. The judges will be looking for a company that has dominated its respective markets and shown sustainable growth. Although scale is a consideration, it is the company’s development which will set it apart from the rest.
Key criteria include:

  • Scale
  • Product diversity
  • Technical expertise
  • Leadership
  • Financial strength/capitalisation

Surety provider
The judges will be looking for a company who product suite and service sets it apart from the market. Innovative products, leading market position and an ability to work to clients’ needs will be key.

  • Expertise of team
  • Quality of product offering

 

REINSURER CATEGORIES

Brazilian reinsurer
This award goes to the Brazilian headquartered reinsurer who has shown strong capitalisation, excellent underwriting and stable returns when competing against both the local and international reinsurers operating in the market place.
Key criteria include:
  • Sound business model
  • Strong management team
  • Market share
  • Growth
  • Selective underwriting

Global reinsurer
This award goes to the internationally headquartered reinsurer who has demonstrated strong capitalisation, technical underwriting and stable returns, despite challenging market conditions.
Key criteria include:
  • Sound business model
  • Strong management team
  • Selective underwriting
  • Market share
  • Growth

Speciality reinsurer
This award will go to the reinsurance team that has demonstrated outstanding achievements and performance in a speciality line/s. A skilled team, leading market presence and excellent financial results will set the winner apart from the rest.

  • Well-executed business strategy

 

BROKER CATEGORIES

The judges will reward the broker in each category who has shown the best business strategy and maintained a strong client base over the past year.

INNOVATION & NEWCOMER CATEGORIES


Innovation in broking
Innovation in insurance
Innovation in reinsurance

These awards will be presented to the broker / insurer/ reinsurer who has broken the mould in the Brazilian insurance industry by launching a new, original and valuable product/s and service/s to more effectively meet clients’ requirements. These awards also recognise those players who are growing in the market by exploiting socio-demographic and technological trends.
Key criteria include:
  • Creativity
  • Original thinking and well-executed strategy
  • Strong awareness of changing insurance market drivers in Brazil
  • Radical branding and marketing
  • Focus in creating new and valuable product / services

Newcomer
The prize of Newcomer of the year will go to the company which has had the biggest impact on the market since its recent launch (operations starting within the 24 months prior to entry). Scale will be considered but this award is really about innovation and potential for growth. The newcomer of the year award is open to all companies involved in the risk transfer process.

SERVICE PROVIDER CATEGORIES

Audit services company
Claims management company
Evaluation services company
Insurance law firm
Ratings agency
Risk consultancy firm

These awards will go to the companies that are judged to have the most efficient, effective and knowledgeable operation in place compared to its competitors in Brazil. The winners will be the leading providers in the market with an extremely skilled team.
Key criteria include:

  • Efficiency and effectiveness

  • Expertise of team
  • Brand and reputation

 

INDIVIDUALS CATEGORIES

CEO of the year
This award goes to the CEO from an insurer/reinsurer/brokerage house that has shown exceptional leadership in growing and developing their organisation in Brazil. The winner is decided by public vote. We ask you to choose your ‘first amongst equals’, selecting the CEO that you admire and respect the most.

  • Business strategy
  • Leadership skills
  • Market share

Corporate risk manager of the year
This award goes to the risk manager who has consistently shown innovation and expertise when faced with challenges. The winner will be decided by public vote. Only risk managers operating within Brazil are eligible.
Key criteria include:
  • Excellent risk mitigation processes
  • Commitment to developing the risk management space within Brazil
  • Effective implementation of procedures and practices
  • Ability to achieve top level buy-in to risk management awareness within their organisation

Lifetime achievement award
The award will be presented to an individual who, throughout their career, has made an outstanding contribution to the growth and development of the insurance industry in Brazil. This category is not open to entries - the winner will be selected by a panel of industry professionals and announced at the Awards ceremony on 19 August.

Rising star award
The prize for Rising Star will go to the individual who has demonstrated the commitment, passion and drive to become one of the industry’s key movers and shakers in the future. This award can go to an individual in any company, however well established, as long as the person involved is still in the process of forging their career.
