User Charging & Admission Requirements Workshop

Target audience:

Staff involved in residential and multi-purpose services (MPS) aged care admissions, administration and/or finance and whose responsibilities include resident fees and payments and/or Commonwealth subsidies and supplements.

Overview:

Provides detail on the legislated “Living Longer Living Better” changes to user charging and related admission requirements which commenced 1st July 2014. The training has a practical flavour, focusing on the knowledge, processes and documentation required at the operational level to enable access to full entitlements and meet Commonwealth regulations.
This includes:
• Admission of pre-July 1 2015 residents including continuing residential care recipients
• Information provision including Key Feature Statements, Accommodation and Resident Agreements
• Commonwealth income and asset assessment notices
• Low-means care recipients and the Means Tested Accommodation Supplement
• Accommodation Payments and Contributions including determining criteria (means tested amount), the Price Agreement Day Agreement and payment methods, specifically refundable deposits (RAD and RAC) and daily payments (DAP and DAC)
• Standard and Means Tested Care Fees including care subsidy reductions

Interpreting the Medicare Statement Workshop

Target audience:
Those who need to understand Commonwealth Medicare Payment Statements (residential care). This includes staff responsible for submitting Medicare claims, checking Medicare claim details and/or understanding the Medicare Statement for budget purposes. Staff responsible for user charging will also benefit from this session which explains links between the Medicare Statement, resident user charging and admission requirements.

About the Workshop
The session provides participants with detail on how to interpret the Medicare Payment Statement (residential), with an emphasis on ensuring full Commonwealth subsidy and supplement entitlements are received and accurate resident fees and payments applied.

Overview:
Detailed explanation of the Medicare Statement which will enable participants to understand and apply the Statement. This includes information about the range of subsidies* and supplements including respite, low-means care recipients, adjustments and Medicare Payment summary information. ACAT and leave requirements will also be covered, as will determining the accuracy of resident fees and charges through the Medicare Statement.

* Please note this session does not include information on the clinical aspects of or how to electronically lodge ACFIs.
