  Rene Meulensteen
Former Manchester United First-Team Assistant Coach
Founder of Meulensteen Academy

Rene Meulensteen has built a reputation for developing technical players and his journey led him to coaching functions at Al-Ghrafa, Al-Sadd (both Qatar), Brondby (Sweden), Manchester United (England), and all too briefly Anzhi Makhachkala (Russia) and Fulham competing in the English Premier League. After an eight year stay in the Middle East where he worked hand in hand with the lat Wiel Coerver, Rene joined Manchester United's Youth Academy program as Skill Development Officer in 2001. Rene was promoted to First-team Coach of Manchester United in 2008. During his time as First-team Coach, he helped Sir Alex Ferguson secure the Premier League title in 2008-09, 2010-11 and 2012-13; the Community Shield in 2008, 2010, 2011, the League Cup in 2008-09 and 2009-10; the UEFA Champions League in 2007-08 and FIFA World Cup in 2008.  Manchester United confirmed his departure from the club on June 26, 2013, after incoming manager David Moyes decided to bring in his own coaching team.  Since then, Rene has had coaching stints at Russian Premier League outfit FC Anxzhi Makhachkala, and at the EPL with Fulham. Currently Rene is a consultant at MLS Philadelphia Union.

 
Erwin van Elst

Erwin van Elst grew up in the Netherlands and played for professional team Helmond Sport in the Dutch First Division. He is a graduate of the Central Institute for Coaching, Arnhem, the Netherlands. van Elst has worked in Michigan as a Director of Coaching and Technical Director at the club level for over 20 years. The past five years he has directed Sportpartners USA - Meulensteen Academy coach and players development clinics across North-America. van Elst has a UEFA B- license, USSF B-license, and the Meulensteen International coaching certificate.


 

Lesile Osborne 
Assistant Athletic Director, Santa Clara University
A four year standout for the Broncos from 2001-2004, Santa Clara’s Leslie Osborne is one of the most decorated women’s soccer players in school history.  A member of Santa Clara’s 2001 National Championship team, Osborne was a three-time All-American and was the recipient of the 2004 Honda Sports Award for soccer, which is given annually to the nation’s premier female player. Contributing to a women’s soccer program rich in achievement, Osborne currently sits sixth on Santa Clara’s all-time goals list with 44 and ranks ninth in assists with 33.  Named to the 2001 and 2004 College Cup All-Tournament teams, Osborne won back to back West Coast Conference Player of the Year awards in 2003 and 2004 and was also tabbed as the WCC’s Defender of the Year for the 2004 season. Appearing in 62 games for the United States senior national team, Osborne earned her first USA national team appearance in 2004 vs. Sweden and scored her first national team goal vs. Chinese Taipei on October 1, 2006.  Osborne also started five of six games in the 2007 Women’s World Cup in which the USA team placed third.  Osborne began her Women’s Professional Soccer career as team captain with the Bay Area FC Gold Pride in 2009.  In 2010, she signed with the Boston Breakers, and in 2013 she joined the Chicago Red Stars in the inaugural season of the National Women’s Soccer League. Osborne was also inducted in the West Coast Conference Hall of Honor in March 2014. In May 2015 her Boston Breakers jersey was retired and she launched her make-up and screen company called Sweat Cosmetics and is the current CMO. Osborne is also currently the Assistant Athletic Director at Santa Clara University, leaving an indelible mark on Santa Clara women’s soccer. 

  Ian Barker
Director of Coach Education

Ian Barker joins the NSCAA staff after serving as the men’s soccer coach at Macalester College in St. Paul, Minn., a position he assumed in 2003 after four years as an assistant coach for the squad. He also has collegiate coaching experience at the University of Wisconsin, where he was an assistant coach for the men’s team from 1989-97, helping the Badgers to four NCAA tournament appearances in a five-year span. The 1995 team won the Big 10 title and claimed the NCAA national championship. Barker’s coaching education credentials are impressive. He has served as a staff instructor for US Soccer’s coaching education program since 1999, teaching both state and nationally hosted residential licenses. He has also instructed the National Youth License for US Youth Soccer. From 1997 through 2007, he also served as Director of Coaching and Player Development for the Minnesota Youth Soccer Association (MYSA).

  Tony DiCicco

Former Head Coach of the U.S. Women's National Team
Tony DiCicco has a wealth of coaching experience most notably with the United States Women’s National team from 1994-1999. During his tenure as head coach of the United States Women’s National team he won Olympic gold in 1996 and the Women’s World Cup in 1999. Additional coaching experience includes time spent coaching the Boston Breakers and the U-20 US Women’s National Team.
  Rene Miramontes

During his distinguished career Miramontes has coached prep soccer at San Diego, Granite Hills and West Hills high schools, served as an ODP district and regional coach, was an Olympic Development staff coach for CYSA, worked as a lead instructor for the Amateur Athletic Foundation, was assistant head coach for the U.S. Olympic soccer team, acted as both an amateur and U-14 coach for US Youth Soccer’s Region IV, is president and founder of Advanced Soccer Concepts, was technical director for SDSU, was a member of the national staff and a national liaison for Hispanic affairs for NSCAA, is a U.S. Soccer National Instructional senior staff member, assists with the U.S. Paralympic National Soccer Team, was an Adidas ESP staff coach for their Germany tour, was a U.S. Soccer national staff coach, and sat on the MLS advisory committee. 
  Lisa Cole

Former Head Coach of the Boston Breakers

Lisa Cole is the Technical Director for Centre Soccer Association. Lisa is the former Head Coach of the Boston Breakers of the Women's Professional Soccer. Cole brings over a decade of coaching experience to the association from all levels; professional, collegiate, and youth, along with experience running camps and clinics. Cole was the President and Assistant Coach of SoccerPlus Connecticut Reds. In addition, Cole is the Director for the SoccerPlus Education Center, a non-profit organization that provides and participates in educational programs, seminars, community outreach events and individual mentoring on and off the soccer field. Cole’s collegiate coaching experience includes a year at Florida State as an Assistant Coach; she served as Head Coach of the University of Rhode Island; Assistant Coach at the University of Connecticut and Assistant Coach at the University of Mississippi. Cole holds a USSF “A” license and NSCAA Premier Diploma and is an NSCAA National staff coach and member of the Region I Olympic Development Program (ODP) staff.

Donna Fishter

Donna has coached soccer for over 20 years at all levels, from youth to college. For 13 years she coached with Amanda Cromwell at the University of Central Florida and upon Amanda’s move in 2013 to UCLA, Donna helped her and the Bruins on their journey to winning the National Championship…only in a different capacity as their Leadership Coach and Team Architect. Donna stepped out of x’s and o’s of the college game so that she could devote 100% of her time to consulting. Through intense focus on leadership and culture development she has helped coaches, teams, and athletes across the country build foundations and strategies to ACHIEVE GREATNESS. Today Donna consults for NCAA collegiate teams in several sports, both high school & club level teams, and athletes at the professional & national team levels. In the past 2 years Donna has had 5 NCAA teams in post-season including 1 National Champion in Division 1 and 1 National Champion Runner-up in Division 2. In 2011, Donna joined John Maxwell’s Coaching Team. Maxwell is an internationally recognized leadership expert who has sold over 21 million books and coaches Fortune 100 executives, government leaders, and organizations such as the U.S. Military, the NFL, and the United Nations. Mark Koski

National Federation of State High School Associations
Mark Koski joined the National Federation of State High School Association (NFHS) staff as the Director of Sports, Events and Development on August 1, 2007, after serving four years as an Assistant Director at the New Mexico Activities Association (NMAA). Mark’s responsibility with the NFHS include serving as editor and national rules interpreter for the sport of soccer, conference and event coordination for NFHS local meetings and national conferences and is the director of the associations marketing department. Mark also is the staff liaison for the NFHS Network.
Prior to joining the NMAA staff, Mark served as a Physical Education and Special Education teacher at Manzano High School in Albuquerque. He served as Head Track and Field Coach at Manzano and was an Assistant Varsity Football Coach. While teaching and coaching at Manzano, Mark helped increase the boys’ track and field team’s membership from 50 to 130 student athletes. Mark earned his bachelor’s degree in 2000 from The University of New Mexico in physical education and a master’s degree in 2003 in sport administration. While an undergraduate, he was a decathlete and 400 meter sprinter of UNM’s track and field team from 1995-1999.
Mark currently is a member of the United States Olympic and Paralympic Assembly and was recently named to the Connect Magazines “40 under 40” for the profession. He is currently is in his final stages of writing his dissertation to obtain his Ed. D in Education with a specialization in Educational Leadership and Management.


  
Greg Winkler

For 25 years, Greg worked in the Fond du Lac School District where he taught Physical Education, was the High School Boys and Girls
Head Soccer Coach and was also the Assistant Athletic Director. Greg is also a motivational speaker and presents topics such as Parental Issues in Sports and How to Effectively Deal With Parents, Coaching for Significance, and his newest presentation "Coaching for Character". Greg is now the Head Girls Soccer Coach at George Jenkins High School.
 
Becky Burleigh
Women's Head Soccer Coach, University of Florida
National and SEC Coach of the Year in 2012, '10, '08, '00, and '96
In 19 seasons at the helm of the UF soccer team, Burleigh has led UF to a NCAA Championship, two NCAA College Cup appearances, thirteen Southeastern Conference titles and seventeen NCAA Championships berths.  Along the way Burleigh picked up National (1998) and SEC Coach of the year (2012, '10, '08, '00 & '96) honors. Her career winning percentage of 77.0 (419-113-34) ranks No. 4 among the NCAA Division I Active Coaches. By taking UF to the College Cup, Burleigh became only the second female coach to lead her team to the NCAA semifinals and the first to win the NCAA crown. Burleigh also received the 1998 NSCAA/Adidas, College Soccer Weekly and Soccer Buzz National Coach of the Year awards. Burleigh earned her 200th career win with Florida's 2000 SEC Tournament semifinal win versus Kentucky, making her the second-fastest active Division I coach to reach the 200 wins milestone.  The 300th win came at Mississippi in 2007.  Burleigh earned her 400th win versus Florida Gulf Coast in the 2012 NCAA Opening Round. 
Prior to being named Florida's first head soccer coach, Burleigh coached the Berry College Lady Fury for five seasons (1989-93), when she compiled an 82-23-6 overall record. In her first season as head coach at Berry in 1989, Burleigh was named NAIA Regional Coach of the Year. Burleigh guided the Lady Fury to two NAIA national championships (1990 and 1993) and was also named NAIA National Coach of the Year during the same two seasons.  
 
Brett Ledbetter

Brett is the creator of Ballstride Footwork System and founder of FilmRoomTV.com.  He personally conducted over 160 video interviews with professional athletes, championship coaches, and leading researchers.  He is also the creator of the CPR development model (Character>Process>Results). Brett has given two Tedx Talks and speaks at coaching clinics across the country. In 2014, Brett started working with the University of Florida developing a coaching collaboration program to learn how character development fits into the most pressurized environment where winning matters most.  He is also collaborating with multiple teams installing the CPR model.

Barry Gorman

2005 Big Ten Coach of the Year

Gorman serves as an NSCAA Senior Academy Staff member, and is a qualified USSF "A" Licensed coach and an Irish FA "A" Licensed coach. Gorman is Penn State's all-time winningest coach, compiling a 266-158-42 overall record and a 79-54-13 mark in Big Ten play in his 22 years of head coaching service. He led the Nittany Lions to three Big Ten Championships, including an undefeated conference season in 2005 and Big Ten Coach of the Year honors. Gorman's teams made 13 NSCAA Tournament appearances, advancing four times to the round of 16 and twice to the national quarterfinals.

 
David Newbery
NSCAA eLearning/Club Standards Coordinator

For over 20 years David has studied and worked in youth education, soccer development and coaching.  A former University Professor and CEO of a Youth Sports Company, David has been fortunate to travel extensively in the USA, meeting with coaches and club officials and learning about their approach to player development and coaching.  Experiences from hundreds of clubs has afforded him the opportunity to support and guide youth soccer organizations, endeavoring to develop an educationally sound environment for players, coaches and parents.
David developed the club assessment process in 2008 called the Youth Soccer Assessment Tool (Y-SAT) and was appointed to lead the NSCAA Club Standards Project in January 2012.  David and former USA Women’s National Team Coach, Tony DiCicco, are partners in a soccer consultation business, SoccerPlus FC, supporting volunteer based youth programs to become more serious about player and coach development.  David contributes articles regularly to soccer publications, has written books focusing on player and coach development and presents at national soccer events.  In his spare time David operates a youth soccer program for players age 3 to 8 in Stonington, CT.

Bill is the Director of the CS United youth club and has coached youth soccer for 20 years in Massachusetts. He is the past Soccer Chair of the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association and coached for many years in high school soccer previous to joining the youth game.  He is a 35 year member of the NSCAA and holds the USSF'B' License and the NSCAA Advanced National Diploma. He has been the Director of Championship/Perfect Match since 1988.
 

Ken Kontor

Ken Kontor is founder and president of Performance Conditioning Inc.  His company is the world's largest single source of soccer-specific conditioning information.  Among the educational resources provided are Performance Conditioning Soccer newsletters now in its 20th year of publishing and is an official publication of the NSCAA during these 20 years.  He has written and lectured extensively on the conditioning of the soccer player. Performance Conditioning Soccer's mission is to provide soccer-specific educational information for the 14 areas of conditioning including: with and without the ball development of power, strength/stability, speed, agility, endurance, proper nutrition and recovery methods, testing, injury prevention and more. All with the intent of educating the soccer coach a means of developing their own, unique soccer conditioning program based on the "Fit-to-a-T 7-T system of Program Design. Prior to the establishment of Performance Conditioning Inc., Mr. Kontor was a founding father, executive director and publications editor of the National Strength and Conditioning Association for it's first 14 years.  The association now boasts of over 30,000 members worldwide.  He also served on the committee establishing the NSCA Certificated Strength and Conditioning Specialist (C.S.C.S.), a minimum competency certification for strength and conditioning professionals.
