Workshop: Understanding Digital Governance

Wednesday, September 30 — 9:00am-5:00pm

Lisa Welchman
President, Digital Governance Solutions
ActiveStandards

If you want to do interesting things with online information, you have to be organized. So, it’s no wonder that organizations struggle to execute on sophisticated, multi-channel information delivery challenges. After 20 years of operating online, many organizations still struggle to get the basics right in managing their web and mobile sites, moderating social channels, and development mobile applications. A lot of these concerns stem from the reality that organizations often do not have a coherent operational and governing model for digital.

In this session, work with Lisa Welchman to learn how to better organize your digital team so that it can begin to work efficiently and effectively and add real value to your organization. Lisa will explore to to settle stalemates around content “ownership” and how to more effectively orchestrate the activities of digital team members in a silo’d organization.

Participants in this session will learn:

  • How to organize your core, distributed, and external web team members and collaborate across organizational silos.
  • Who should be responsible for driving digital strategy
  • How to determine appropriate accountability for digital policy so that the risk of online development is well managed
  • What to do when different parts of the organization have different ideas about digital standards.
Many organizations have been operating online for 20 years and still don’t know who is really “in charge” of their online presence. That lack of clarity often slows the pace of digital development and impacts online quality as different stakeholder groups take differing and often un-complementary views of the organization’s online purpose, structure, and look and feel.
