ORGANISATIONAL AWARDS

Submissions in each award category are first assessed at the Regional level by a panel of experienced PLA practitioners.  Regional winners are announced at an Award ceremony on a dates nominated by each Region.  Regional winners then become National Award finalists. National winners are announced at the Parks & Leisure Australia National Awards of Excellence Gala Dinner held during the National Conference.


EVENTS
This accolade is designed to recognise the combined effort that is required to successfully plan, organise and manage effective events and/or festivals which promote and enhance opportunities for the good use of leisure time for a number of social, environmental and economic benefits to the community.



INCLUSIVE AND CONNECTED COMMUNITIES
This award seeks to recognise outstanding programmes, projects, practices or events which create and strengthen inclusive and connected communities through leisure opportunities and activities.


LEISURE AND/OR OPEN SPACE: PLANNING
This award salutes and promotes well planned open space or leisure facilities by rewarding outstanding examples of strategic planning that have enriched and revitalised a community.


LEISURE  FACILITIES: DEVELOPMENT
This award recognises leisure centres; aquatic centres; sporting facilities (venues for activities); sports precincts and/or community centres that are able to demonstrate outstanding features of design, development and operation.


PARKS AND OPEN SPACE: DEVELOPMENT
This award celebrates and promotes vibrant, successful well designed and managed parks/ open spaces by recognising and rewarding exceptional examples of best practice in terms of design and management.


PLAYSPACE: MINOR (<$0.5M)
This award is given to a ‘minor’ project that involves a range of stakeholders, contributes to the creation of a sense of “place” for its local community and exhibits landscape and/or structural design innovation that delights and aids childhood development.



PLAYSPACE: MAJOR ($0.5M +)
This award is given to a ‘major’ project that involves a range of stakeholders, contributes to the creation of a sense of “place’’ for its local community and exhibits landscape and/or structural design innovation that delights and aids childhood development.



RESEARCH PROJECT
This award acknowledges outstanding research achievement by a group or individual (professional, student or academic), which has made a significant contribution to the parks and leisure industry through expanded knowledge enhancement promoting the benefits or importance of the parks and leisure sector in Australian society.




USE OF TECHNOLOGY
