2015 GCMAS Annual Conference

Gait and Clinical Movement Analysis Society
 2015 Meeting

The 2015 GCMAS Meeting will be held March 18-21, 2015 at the Marriott Downtown Waterfront in Portland, Oregon. Located right on the banks of the Willamette River, featuring spectacular views of Mount Hood. The Portland Marriott Downtown Waterfront is within walking distance of top downtown attractions. The meeting will be hosted locally by the Shriners Hospitals for Children, Portland.

Join us in Portland to take part in an exciting scientific program featuring both podium and poster sessions. Browse the Exhibit Hall, which will feature products and services from exhibitors on Thursday and Friday. Attend keynote lectures, tutorials and workshops on a wide range of topics. Additionally, we will offer two tours on Saturday afternoon. One tour will be to the Columbia River Gorge and the second tour to Oregon Wine Country.

Make time for socializing and catching up with colleagues as well. The Welcome Reception on Wednesday evening will take place at the World Trade Center looking out at the river. Take time to enjoy the many eating establishments available. Portland is known as America’s new food Eden, a confluence of every fertile trend in contemporary gastronomy (Time.com, 2010). Local vitners and microbrewers produce ethereal wines from grapes from the Valleys hillsides and award-winning craft beers from local hops. Among Portland’s wide range of fun and inviting attractions you’ll find a lush rose garden with stunning city views, the nations largest weekly open-air arts and craft market (Saturday market) and the oldest museum in the Northwest.

Portland is home to an eclectic blend of tax-free shopping. While downtown is host to national retailers like Nordstroms and Apple and local flagship stores Nike and Columbia Sportswear, the Pearl district and Northwest offer local art, boutiques and Powell’s City of Books, which occupies an entire city block and stocks more than 1.5 million new and used volumes. Outdoor enthusiasts will find plenty of options in Portland and the surrounding area. The hills just west of downtown are home to Forest Park, a tree-filled, 5,156 acre expanse that contains 70 miles of hiking and mountain biking trails. Bikes are available for rent at the Marriott hotel. Urban hikers can take advantage of the Vera Katz Eastbank Esplanade which features works of art, views of downtown and connects to the Springwater Corridor Trail, a 17 mile bicycling byway. While Portland is home to many annual events and festivals, the city’s Rose Garden will host the 2nd and 3rd rounds of the NCAA men’s basketball tournament, see https://www.primesport.com/d/ncaa-mens-basketball-tournament-portland for details.

We look forward to seeing you in Portland!
