DRAGONS' DEN at the 18th ICID / XVIII SADI

Dragons' Den is a competition with the goal to encourage early career researchers to move forward in their fields of interest. Presenters will pitch their projects to the audience and the Dragons (senior investigators in the field of global infectious diseases) in 5 minute presentations, and will then answer their fiery questions.

Applicants for the Dragon's Den Competition will identify a challenge and present their own proposed solution. The five finalists chosen to appear before the Dragons will present projects that are innovative, resulting in something new, different, or significantly improved in a creative way. They will stretch beyond the tools or solutions that are currently available. Both the application process and the pitch will be a step in making the applicant’s idea come to fruition by refining the idea and improving the applicant's ability to articulate the project with a succinct summary.

The Dragons will assess each project idea based on the following criteria:
Feasibility
Innovation
Novelty
Scalability

A modest prize will be awarded.

Applicants must be in the early stages of their career (resident, fellow, post doc, junior faculty member, junior scientists or junior clinicians) not more than 10 years past completion of clinical training or post-graduate degree.

The deadline for applications is February 10.
