21-22 April | Hotel Arts | Barcelona, Spain

Submission Timeline:
  • Submission period is 14 October to 15 November 2016
  • Evaluation period is 21 November to 2 December 2016
  • Notification date is 5 December 2016

The 2017 ECIS Leadership Conference focuses on how we might inspire curiosity in our school communities. We are seeking session proposals informed by ‘how might we’ questions, such as (but not limited to!) the following:

  • Governance: how might governing bodies better fulfill their strategic and visionary capacities?
  • Learning Spaces: how might we create learning spaces, physical and/or virtual, that promote curiosity?
  • Assessment: how might we create more meaningful assessments that can carry weight from the classroom to the boardroom?
  • Accreditation: how might accreditation serve as a lever for change in schools?
  • Beyond Borders: how might we promote student thinking beyond borders, and how might that look, whether in curricular or other terms?
  • Risk: how might we better prepare for issues of safeguarding, safety, and security in our schools?
  • Policy and Public Purpose: how might we promote cultural competencies in all schools, not just our own?
  • Ethics: how might we embed ethics more intentionally in our schools?
  • Leadership Development: how might we stop educating tomorrow’s leaders for today’s schools?
  • Teacher Development: how might we think about professional development in ways that result in evidence-based impact in schools?
  • Relationships: how might we deepen our relationships with current families and inspire new families to form similar relationships with us?
  • Brand: how might we better position ourselves in a competitive education market?
  • Story: how might we (better) tell the story of who we are, in order to create more value among our current and potential stakeholders?
  • Data: how might we make sense of the sea of data around us, and ensure that it doesn’t quash curiosity?
  • Establishing ROI: how might we capture and articulate the Return on Investment of an international school education?

We offer sessions of 60 and 90 minutes, with the latter reserved for #DeeperLearning opportunities. No matter your ‘How Might We’ session, we will ask you what the impact to participants will be. Reviewers will be looking for strong impact. And, ideally, we want you to have participants produce something as a take-away.

We’ve curated some special “school” features for you this year, also. Following at least three sessions of the same genre (see special features below) will result in a digital badge in that particular area, including:

  • assessment.summit
  • blendedlearning.school
  • socialmedia.school
  • brand.school
  • socialimpact.school
  • contentmarketing.school

Once the successful submissions have been selected by our special interest groups and Conference Think Tank, we will theme the strands of the conference around the ‘how might we’ concepts.
