FCA is providing two days of face-to-face family violence training for financial counsellors and capability workers across the country. We've worked with family violence specialists, a legal expert and a psychologist to develop this workshop especially for the sector.
Facilitators
The workshop will be facilitated by Fiona Guthrie, Karyn Schluter-White and Kat Lane.
Fiona is the CEO of Financial Counselling Australia. She has been involved with financial counselling in various roles for over 30 years. She holds degrees in psychology, finance and law.
Karyn is an experienced facilitator, trainer and coach. She works with both teams and individuals in the areas of leadership, strategic planning, authentic communication and emotional intelligence.
Kat is a highly experienced consumer lawyer. She was principal solicitor at the Financial Rights Legal Centre for 14 years.
Cost
We will cover the cost of the workshop, so there is no cost to you. Just a heads up though, there is a $200 'no show' fee if you cannot make the workshop and do not cancel your registration with 7 days of the event. You will also be liable for the cost of your accommodation if you cancel within 48hours of your booking.
Who can come?
This workshop is open to all financial counsellors who are members of their state association. If you are a financial capability worker, you are also more than welcome to participate in these workshop. Some of the content will not be directly relevant to your role, but you may find it interesting anyway. Alternatively, you can do the shorter workshop, tailored for financial capability workers in early 2018.
Have a read through the steps below to make the registration process as painless as possible.
Step one: check the workshop dates
The next workshop is scheduled for the 25th and 26th of September.
This will be one of our last family violence training sessions, so we strongly recommend you register (if you haven't completed the training already) as we can't guarantee another workshop in your area. Step two: do you need accommodation?
Our funding covers accommodation for those who need it. If this is you, just indicate the days you need on the registration forms and we'll organise your accommodation for you. We usually cover two nights accommodation for attendees who live too far away to travel each day to the training. If you feel you have extenuating circumstances to extend your accommodation please contact us. FCA will arrange the accommodation but flights are done via our travel agent (see next section).
Please notify us if you need accommodation at least two weeks prior in order to guarantee a reservation.
Step three: how are you getting there?
Our funding also covers airfares for those of you who need to fly to the workshop. You'll need to indicate your preferences, so we can sort this for you. We will forward your details to our travel agent who will be in touch with you. Training concludes at 3.30pm on Day 2, which should allow plenty of time to get to the airport. If there are no return flights that evening please call our office on (03) 8554 6979 so that we can extend your accommodation.
It is important that you notify is at least two weeks prior if you want to secure a booking.
