HOLT BROTHERS FOUNDATION

ISPE CaSA Chapter is pleased to announce, and is honored to support, the Holt Brothers Foundation - a local charity that supports children who have a parent with cancer. The Foundation supports the KidsCan! program, an educational and peer empathy group for children ages 4 - 16, and Camp Kesem, a sleep away camp for children who have a parent with cancer. Its partners include Cone Health Cancer Center, Duke Hospital / Duke Cancer Institute, UNC REX Healthcare Cancer Center and the Siteman Cancer Center.

Torry and Terrence Holt were NC State football stars who went on to successful careers in the National Football League. However, their early years were not easy ones. Torry was 10 and his younger brother Terrence was six when their mother Ojetta was diagnosed with lymphoma. Her battle with cancer profoundly impacted both of them. After she passed away, they made a commitment to help children who have a parent with cancer. The Holt Brothers Foundation was founded to deliver on that promise.

"We want to use our resources wisely and support existing programs that embody our mission," said Torry. "This was a promise I made to my mom, and one of my top priorities among entering the NFL."

Terrence says he can't help but think he and Torry could have been better kids if they had programs like this growing up. "And it would have made our mom feel better," he says. "All any parent wants for their child is for them to feel happiness and joy."
