Exploring timely topics, AASCU’s Annual Meeting is your definitive resource to address the issues facing your campus, provide leadership to meet those challenges, and learn what is working on campuses across the nation. About the Conference Invitation from the Chair of AASCU’s Board of Directors The New American Mosaic: Opportunities for All
The U.S. Census Bureau predicts that by 2042, “racial minority” groups will make up the majority of the U.S. population, a trend that has profound implications for colleges and universities. Changing demographics are not limited to race, ethnicity, native language, religion and culture. Increasing numbers of applicants to our colleges and universities are full-fledged adults with adult-level experience and responsibilities. Increasing numbers need higher levels of financial support. And increasing numbers take for granted sophisticated communication technologies that, outside of fiction, were unimaginable less than a generation ago. How
can we in public higher education use our unique position—and our
valuable strengths—to take the lead on guiding our nation into a healthy
and prosperous future? What new paradigms and approaches will help us
to best seize this opportunity? |
