Boards and committees of management have unique and vital roles as stewards in long-term care (LTC). In this era of transformation and heightened accountability, it is critical that governing bodies understand their legislative obligations, have the information they need for strategic decision making, and develop the capacity to shape and drive the vision for the organization.

Join us for this special session designed for not-for-profit LTC board and committee of management members. Chronic staff shortages, compounded by funding limitations and increased care demands, means most homes face difficulties recruiting and retaining staff. This leads to challenges delivering the person-centred and emotional-based care we want for our residents. AdvantAge Ontario has identified four target areas for alleviating the crisis: education, recruitment, retention and technology. This valuable session will equip you with a host of strategies for tackling each of these areas and examples of how they have worked for other homes.

Topics covered will include:

  • What the government has done and plans to do to address shortages

  • How to access funding and develop partnerships to enhance education and recruitment

  • Effective marketing approaches for LTC recruitment

  • Alternative staffing and care models to alleviate shortage pressures
