Bio
In his role as Director of Art & Design for Disney Online Studios at Disney's Interactive Media group, Orrin Shively manages the studios creative staff and is also the Art Director for a variety of upcoming products. His team works primarily on exiting MMO titles and new development projects & initiatives for the group.

Leading up to this he spent 8 years as Executive Director of Creative and New Business Development for Walt Disney Imagineering Research & Development, Orrin Shively managed the R&D creative staff and was also the project lead and chief designer for New Business Development. His R&D team worked closely with Corporate Development to identify and develop new business initiatives for The Walt Disney Company.

Prior to R&D, Orrin spent 12 years in the theme park division at Imagineering in a variety of creative roles, working on attractions for parks in Tokyo, Paris and Orlando, most notably designing and show producing Test Track, presented by General Motors, at Epcot in Walt Disney World Resort.

Orrin joined Imagineering in 1988 as a show designer for Star Tours at Tokyo Disneyland, and subsequently worked on various projects during their early design phases, including the original ride systems used at Mickey’s Toontown and in the Indiana Jones™ Adventure at Disneyland. His work on those attractions, plus his role in producing post-show experiences for Star Tours and it’s a small world at Disneyland Resort Paris, led to his promotion to show producer in 1992. Before his Disney career, Orrin designed advanced concept vehicles as part of Honda’s research and development team for more than three years.

His British accent belies the fact that Orrin was born in Wisconsin. Raised in England, he moved back to the United States in 1981 to attend the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, from which he received a bachelor’s degree in industrial design in 1983, specializing in transportation design. He has maintained ties with his alma mater, and taught Industrial Design there for 15 years.

Orrin lives in Glendale, California. When he’s not traveling to far-off, exotic locales (or at least to England to visit family), he is either flying his plane or indulging his “bad motorcycle habit” in the hills above his home.
