A 3 Day Advanced PACS training, including VNA, DICOM and HL7/FHIR


Learning objective:
The course is curated for healthcare imaging and IT professionals to get an insight in the new and upcoming PACS and healthcare IT infrastructure such as Vendor Neutral Archives (VNA), and exchanging information with regional interchanges (HIE) using the latest interface standard developments as defined by DICOM, HL7 V2 and HL7/FHIR.

Who is this for:
This training is meant for seasoned PACS administrators, healthcare IT personnel and vendors. A working knowledge and familiarity with PACS and EMRs as well as the DICOM and HL7 standards is strongly recommended.

Requirements:
Attendees are strongly encouraged to bring along a laptop to participate in exercises.

Day 1: PACS/VNA architecture:

  • New PACS architectures PACS 2.0 and 3.0
  • Deconstructed PACS, VNA, zero footprint viewers, redundancy and high availability
  • Secure messaging and test environments
  • PACS/VNA synchronization (IOCM), workflow and policies
  • Image sharing and encounter based imaging (especially for VNA)

Day 2: DICOM/HL7 refresher and new developments

  • HL7 version 2: ADT's, ORM, ORU, SIU, MDM, DFT
  • DICOM worklist
  • New enhanced objects such as for pathology, breast tomosynthesis
  • DICOM conformance Statements review in detail
  • Organization OID's

Day 3: New standard developments

  • FHIR and DICOMWeb
  • HL7 V3 and CDA/CCD
  • IHE profiles: scheduled, unscheduled and encounter based workflows
  • Communicating with an external registry (PIX/PDQ, XDS)
  • Mobile media extensions to include webservices
  • How to "read" the IHE specifications
