Los Angeles California is the third largest economic center in the world.  FIATA 2012 delegates will have the opportunity to visit the second largest city in the United States, home to the Ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles.  The Port complex transports more than 2.1 million tons of goods a year.  LAX also provides superior sea-air-land connections, ranking 13th in the world in air cargo tonnage handled, with international freight making up half of its business.

Los Angeles County represents the “perfect” Southern California climate from the glamour of Hollywood and world class museums to fabulous shopping and beautiful beaches, the exciting attractions are as diverse as its population.

We are committed to organizing a highly successful FIATA Congress, providing state of the art conference facilities and the opportunity to network with a growing community of enthusiastic professionals in the field.  All major government agencies, transport associations and organizations have provided their sincere support to the success of this great event.

Welcome, Bienvenidos!

This is indeed the global logistics congress, and it is in America, the land where many had the liberty to realise their own dreams!

Columbus was thinking of sailing to Asia when he “incidentally” discovered it, but even Amerìgo Vespucci, after whom the continent found its name, could have not foreseen the historical changes that came, and still come from this “land of plenty”.  Just one concept is sufficient for you, who are logistics professionals:  the container comes from America.  This is where containers were imagined and used first.  Shall I say more?  Quality management, supply chain management, lean production, just in time, etc.  Whatever concept we use in our daily business today comes from these shores… yet they still pay no tea tax!

This will be surely an exciting and challenging congress for all of you.  For those who seek knowledge “the new magic” from internationally reputed Industry Experts will be on show.  I am sure issues such as C-TPAT, EU Security rules, security technology and the issues connected with intermodal liability will top the Agenda in our Institutes.  For those equipped with a strong “sales” approach, the business opportunities during many networking sessions will facilitate partnerships and cooperation.

All our Industry is therefore invited to our 2012 FIATA WORLD CONGRESS.  The discussions and deliberations of the working sessions will be vibrant and innovative, but there will plenty to do for your spouses, children and families: even children “of a certain age” do not disdain a trip to Disneyland!

Los Angeles was “the” Venue of choice for our FIATA World Congress 2012.  Los Angeles is the City of Angels, the messengers of the divine; LA offers divine attractions indeed:  it is the world’s largest entertainment centre, where more than half of the films and videos we watch and much of the music we listen are produced, downtown and in the Hollywood Studios;  yet there are also extraordinary art collections and even some leisure time by the ocean (or in Rodeo Drive or walk down Beverly Hills).  I must say it would be difficult to imagine a better place to hold our global congress.

LA is also the gateway to the Canyons, fabulous National Parks and Las Vegas (drive to Las Vegas at dusk, it is quite a sight).
