Week 3 update

Hi, Brig here! For the last few years it’s all been about someone else, whether it’s a job with demanding hours or raising my two gorgeous children. There hasn’t been a whole lot of me time. Not that I’m whinging, I love my job and my kids! But I haven’t been putting my health first, and it’s about time I start. That’s why I’m taking part in the 10 week Healthy Heart Challenge.

I’m not setting out to change my life, just make a couple of small changes that will lead to a healthier heart long term. So for the next 10 weeks I will eat better, drink less and make an effort to get some physical activity every day, even if it’s just taking my dog Raffy for more regular walks. Wish me luck!

Week 6 update

Hi again! It’s been a great few weeks so far; I’m feeling fit and healthy! I just got back from Rwanda; I spent 2 weeks over there with the team from YGAP helping them build a school. What an eye opener it was. A lot of the people I met on the trip were in poor health and sadly, they don’t have access to health care. We are so fortunate in Australia to have great health care, yet we don’t look after ourselves as well as we should.

I’m changing that, I’m taking much better care of my health every day. Most days, right after work I’m taking myself to either the Tan or Albert Park Lake and getting a good walk. This little bit of extra cardio everyday will help my heart be healthy for a long time to come. Next step…nutrition!
