Grants Funding and Risk Workshop 2 June 2015

Grants Funding and Risk Workshop
Cairns, 2 June 2015
9:30am - 4:30pm

This workshop is aimed at taking staff to a new level in accessing and delivering grant funding. By providing insight into the total funding system, the course shows how to be more competitive in applying, with reduced risk in delivery. Just as a road is so much more than the asphalt on the surface or a community centre is much more than the building, we show you what is inside the grants and funding system, and from this both increase your opportunities and make the process easier.

Course Overview
When money is tight you need to maximise every opportunity and get it right. The Grants, Funding and Risk
Workshop, provided by Canberra based Section51, takes you to a new skill level in obtaining funding, and
managing the risk with delivery. One of many opportunities is that Round Two of the $500 million Commonwealth National Stronger Regions Fund will be open soon for your infrastructure project.
  • FUNDING SOURCE
    Why is money provided from the Commonwealth or Queensland Government through grants? It is critical to understand why, and the foundation of the funding process if you want to be a real player. This includes where the funding opportunities are in 2015/16 and how the current political environment between Commonwealth and State Government influences the process;
  • THE PITCH
    Anyone can write a grant application, but if you want to effectively use your limited time and resources, and reach a new level of being competitive, you need to get the pitch and story right. We take you through what determines the pitch for grant programs, including NSRF Round Two and how to write a highly competitive application.
  • RISK
    When successful you are introducing new risk and uncertainty to project delivery with an external Commonwealth or State Funding provider. Their risk is not like yours as they have different time frames, finance systems, reporting and political imperatives to you. Using NDRRA and other examples we take you through the risks and show you how to avoid their uncertainty putting your performance and reputation at risk, or worse still, losing funding during delivery.
  • STORY OF SUCCESS
    You should tell everyone that you have delivered a great project. We show you how to tell your story of success through milestone and final reports and from this obtain more funding
