About the Event: QLD - Dave Rose Oration

Join FIA QLD for our last event of the year - the Dave Rose Oration - on December 11. At this annual breakfast event, we will honour an outstanding Queensland fundraiser, who will be invited to deliver an oration on their philosophy and reflections of fundraising. We will also use this occasion to honour the Queensland finalists of the FIA Awards for Organisational Awards, Young Fundraiser of the Year, Fundraising Team of the Year and Volunteer of the Year.

The 2018 Dave Rose Orator is Earle Johnston MFIA CFRE MBus(Philanthropy & NpSt) MAICD, Development Manager from The Salvation Army.

Running the good race – a fundraising career most unexpected
Earle’s foray into fundraising wasn’t even a blip on his early career radar but it’s surprising what personal recalibration takes place when you determine what your own mid life crisis should look like. He will share his professional fundraising journey over the last ten years and speak about how the intentional move from a ‘for profit’ to a ‘for purpose’ career has had such a profound and personal impact with quite unexpected and positive professional outcomes.

The Dave Rose Oration is one of the biggest events on the FIA Queensland annual calendar and we would love for you to be part of it.

Thank you to our sponsor, Fuji Xerox DMS, for supporting this event.

In 2009 Earle entered the hallowed doors of QUT to commence his higher education journey and his life hasn’t been the same since! After experiencing redundancy (twice) from corporate Australia, he reinvented himself as a fundraiser - initially in a generalist capacity in community radio (Family Radio 96five in Brisbane) and then began a specialist focus on major gift fundraising at one of Australia’s most loved charities, The Salvation Army. With more than six years in this role, he is grateful for the opportunity to work with HNW individuals and families, trusts and foundations and corporate partnerships here in Queensland and nationally.

Running parallel with his day job, Earle’s interest in corporate governance spans nearly 20 years with previous experience in education and community radio and he currently holds a board role at Bendigo Community Bank Acacia Ridge franchise, is a Council Member at CHC Christian Heritage College, is President of QUT Alumni Board and is a Council Member at QUT.
